Why is the agent rate worse than the mid-market rate?
The naira is the single biggest swing factor on a Nigerian import. The mid-market CNY/NGN rate is what you read; what you actually pay — through a BDC, a payment agent or an aggregator settling into a Chinese account — sits several percent above it, and on a thin-margin order that spread is the difference between profit and loss. How does the FX leg change my landed cost?
